Government Relations Assistant

As a Government Relations Associate, you are responsible for processing and carrying out all transactions relating to visas, permits, licenses, registration, pertaining to employees, liaising with various Government Departments and Agencies.
Process all types of visas.
Process and renew of permits and licenses.
Obtain permits for special promotions such as raffles, publishing or advertisement displays as required.
Be up to date with regard to any changes or amendments to the prevailing laws / rules / regulations, changes in forms / formats and other procedures and keep the Human Resources Department advised of such changes.
Submit relevant documents periodically to the immigration / labour office with regard to cancelled / absconding employees and delete from the company's sponsorship list.
Complete departure and exit formalities for employees after cancellation of visas.
Obtain sponsorship reports from the immigration / labour office and tally sponsorships and re-submit to immigration / labour office with relevant support documents.
Government Liaison:
Serve as the primary point of contact between the organization and various levels of government (local, regional, and national).
Develop and maintain relationships with government officials, lawmakers, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders.
Represent the organization at public hearings, legislative sessions, and other government-related events.
Monitoring Legislation and Policy:
Track and analyze proposed legislation, government regulations, and policies that could impact the organization.
Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders (e.g., senior management) on new developments, trends, and potential risks or opportunities related to government actions.
Advocacy and Lobbying:
Advocate on behalf of the organization to government agencies, regulators, and policymakers, working to influence the development of public policy.
Support lobbying efforts to promote organizational interests in areas such as taxes, trade, environmental regulation, and more.
Prepare lobbying materials, including policy briefs, position papers, and testimonies, for submission to government bodies.
Bachelor's degree
Previous experience as a Public Relations Officer.
Excellent communication skills in written & spoken Arabic and English
Understands Qatar Law
Government Knowledge & Policy Awareness:
In-depth understanding of government processes, legislative procedures, and public policy at local, regional, and national levels.
Familiarity with political dynamics, regulatory environments, and how they affect business operations.
Communication Skills:
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex issues clearly to both internal and external stakeholders.
Skilled at drafting and reviewing official documents, policy briefs, and government communications.
Relationship Management:
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with government officials, regulatory bodies, and other key stakeholders.
Experience in managing external partnerships and representing the organization to government agencies.
Advocacy & Lobbying:
Experience or knowledge of advocacy campaigns, lobbying, and public affairs to advance organizational interests.
Ability to advocate on behalf of the organization in policy discussions and maintain ethical standards in lobbying efforts.
Problem-Solving and Negotiation Skills:
Strong ability to resolve policy issues, address concerns, and negotiate favorable outcomes in a politically sensitive environment.
Skilled at working through complex issues and finding mutually agreeable solutions between the organization and government agencies.
