**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Pastry Preparation**: Prepare and bake pastries, desserts, cakes, cookies, breads, and other related baked goods.
- **Menu Development**: Develop new dessert and pastry items, ensuring seasonal ingredients and current trends are reflected in offerings. Customize items based on customer preferences and special events.
- **Ingredient Management**: Order and manage ingredients, ensuring the proper storage of perishable items. Monitor stock levels and keep track of inventory.
- **Quality Control**: Ensure that all pastries meet the established quality standards for taste, texture, and presentation. Regularly inspect baked goods for consistency.
- **Team Leadership**: Supervise and train junior pastry chefs or kitchen staff, ensuring efficient production in a collaborative and organized environment.
- **Baking Techniques**: Use a variety of specialized equipment, ovens, and techniques to create unique pastry items. This may include decorating cakes, preparing fillings, working with chocolate, and handling dough.
- **Customer Service**: Occasionally interact with customers, especially in establishments with open kitchens or where pastry chefs engage directly with guests.
- **Event/Seasonal Planning**: Assist in preparing pastries for special occasions, holidays, and events like national days, sports day, and festivals.
- **Collaboration**: Work closely with other kitchen staff, including chefs and servers, to ensure smooth operations and effective communication regarding orders and presentation.
