**Purpose**
To advise the SLC-M&O and VP on the progress of all work under his / her control. Advise on best course of action as needed
To ensure adequate level of legal counseling and support is provided
To share and receive domain knowledge expertise to support respective work streams.
To provide advice and analysis on mitigating legal risks on all contracts and corporate transactions

**Purpose**
To keep up to date with changes involving law, policies and procedures. Seek clarification as needed
To ensure that services are consistent with applicable scope of work, expected deliverables, timelines and in accordance with company procedures
**Accountability**
Accountable to their line manager and direct reports so far as is reasonably practical to ensure a safe place or work, safe systems of work, safe plant & equipment, provision of information and training.
**Responsibility**
His/her personal safety and that of all personnel under his/her authority, including others who may be affected by the company’s activities. In particular to:
Conduct risk assessments on activities within their department ensuring that the methods and safe systems of work are safe and implemented
Ensure all employees and contractors under their control are competent to undertake their duties
Ensure all accidents, incidents and near misses are reported and investigated
Promote good behaviors and set a personal example with regard to occupational health and safety matters.
**Authority**
Managers/Supervisors have the authority to stop work when health and safety is unsafe or being compromised.
**Education & Professional Qualification**
Bachelor Degree in Law or equivalent
**Professional Experience**
6 - 8 years of experience in area of Shipping Practice out of which 1-3 years in an in-house counsel role.
Bar Admission: Common Law License (eg. U.K., U.S., Australia, Singapore etc.)
**Geographic Experience**
Fully conversant with maritime laws of UK and similar regulations globally. Be able to locate and interpret the applicable laws and judgements.

Business Fluent English. Arabic skills desirable
**Market/Industry/Functional Knowledge**
Strong knowledge of local and international maritime laws and regulations
Strong knowledge of admiralty law, UN maritime conventions, port state regulations, employment laws, and O&G chartering practice.
**Responsibilities/Communication/OHSE**:
- Provide legal counsel to internal clients on supply chain and transportation contracts, including logistics, 3PL, warehousing, procurement, and distribution, ensuring compliance with company guidelines.
- Advise on regulatory compliance in transportation and logistics, covering import/export controls, environmental regulations, customs, and international trade laws.
- Assist in managing supply chain risks, including disputes, disruptions, and compliance with logistics and warehousing standards.
- Promote legal compliance and best practices across logistics and warehousing operations.
- Negotiate, draft, and review non-maritime corporate and support service agreements, including tender and real estate documents, identifying legal risks and aligning with company interests.
- Support cross-functional teams in major transactions such as mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, legal restructuring, and financing.
- Ensure timely renewal of vessel certifications, licenses, and registrations in compliance with relevant regulations.
- Monitor and report on local laws and regulations affecting Milaha’s operations, providing recommendations to the SLC-M&O.
- Review tenders and documents for legal risks, ensuring compliance with company policies and minimizing discrepancies.
- Conduct legal research on maritime and offshore sector issues, advising SLC-M&O and VP on potential legal risks and liabilities.
- Collaborate with other Legal Department members, sharing expertise and coordinating activities as needed.
- Implement legal processes to protect Milaha’s interests, propose amendments as necessary, and assist in the development of training programs.
- Manage relationships with external counsel and consultants for transactions and advisory services.
- Advise on compliance with Milaha’s Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies, and maritime safety standards for vessels and ports.
- Provide legal and compliance advice to SLC-M&O and VP as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ensure operations comply with all relevant legal, regulatory, and industry standards.
- Promote employee health and safety and protect the environment across all sites and work premises.
