In this role, you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assess and meet the needs of children and adolescents attending the centre. This work will require planning, evaluating, organizing, and conducting speech and language therapy programs to facilitate children with a diverse range of communication needs, including language delay, language disorder, autism, global developmental delay, social communication difficulties, speech disorder, hearing impairment, and dysfluency.

As part of the SLT team you will administer speech and language evaluations and assessments, develop treatment plans, monitor progress for each child on his/her caseload and promote a functional, clinical approach to intervention, encompassing educational attainment, participation in the education experience, life aspirations and general well-being. The position requires independent clinical judgment, well-developed (effective) communication skills, and the ability to work well with co-workers and families of clients.

As a Senior SLT, you would be expected to fully support the management team to lead the development, and organisation of the Speech and Language Therapy department in collaboration with other Senior members of the team. You will support SLT department members of your department, to ensure that all SLTs are committed to one another, to the team, to a high level of achievement and delivery, and to the common goal of Mind Institute. You will need to ensure that every member of your team fully understands that the success of the department depends on each individual SLT. You will need to achieve the objective of becoming “one is all and all is one”.

**General**
- Meet with prospective clients and orientate them to the department, staff, assessment and treatment procedures and address any other concerns they may have.
- Arrive to work promptly and demonstrate good time management skills.
- Present oneself in a polished, professional demeanour at all times wearing the uniform provided.
- Behave respectfully and sensitively to cultural and religious norms and values at all times.
- Work with a diverse range of clients who all have different needs.
- Have a positive attitude. Accept and utilize feedback from staff and management.
- Serve as a substitute when another staff within your department is absent.

**Management**
- As Senior SLT, you will work in collaboration with the Centre Manager and Clinical Director to ensure commissioning, recruitment, onboarding, and orientation responsibilities are carried out in line with MI’s strategic and staff plans.
- Feedback to CD as a first point of call.
- Day-to-day supervision of SLT’s staff members.
- Address any issue that may come up and try to resolve matters in a professional way. Escalate matters to CD if and when needed.
- To help ensure the flow of information to staff within the SLT department.
- To coordinate and manage rotas for speech and language therapist working hours when requested to do so by management.
- To effectively respond to and manage crisis situations.
- Strive to resolve any concerns or complaints within a reasonable time frame.
- Be effective at motivating others around you.
- Ensure the SLT department is delivering the service with a multidisciplinary approach.
- Ensure that we are a result-oriented organization.
- Time management, ensuring a balance between your clinical responsibilities and administrative responsibilities.
- Ensure your team members are managing their time responsibly.
- Demonstrate adaptability/ flexibility in managing relationships with others.
- Promote quality by reviewing and evaluating the department service regularly with the CD.
- Find ways in which the standards of quality and efficiency can be improved within the service.
- Should there be any clinical disagreement between you and Senior therapists (different clinical opinions/judgement), the issue should be escalated to the Clinical Director, copying the Centre Manager. Discussions should be limited to the Senior SLT and the upper management only.
- Support management in all its decisions, even if that conflicts with your personal opinion or judgment.
- Keep updated with all policies and procedures of Mind Institute.

**Clinical**
