Workshop Controller

About the Role

Controls vehicle/GSE maintenance activities at Qatar Aviation Services (QAS), and provides leadership, direction and accountability to Vehicle/GSE Maintenance staff in order to deliver a safe, reliable and cost effective fleet of equipment and vehicles at DIA/HIA, covering all maintenance activities and any other airside services as directed by QAS management.

Operational
- Timely completion of preventative and corrective maintenance to all fleet vehicles and GSE occurring at the maintenance facility or within airside operations.
- Prioritize and coordinate maintenance actions in order to maintain acceptable serviceability levels of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and fleet vehicles and to achieve optimal preventative maintenance service levels.
- Assign jobs/issues instruction to subordinates based upon each staff’s skill level and experience.
- Utilize reference materials such as drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications during the maintenance process.
- Use automated maintenance data systems to document repair actions and monitor maintenance trends.
- Monitor the state and progress of all maintenance activities occurring throughout the operation during the workshift.
- Ensure that all work performed or activities that occurred during the work shift are accurately documented.
- Provide accurate reporting and updates to Workshop Manager.
- Assist in the response to any emergency or a major operational disruption affecting Qatar Airways or its subsidiaries, including support of the Qatar Airways Special Assistance Program.
- Ensures that safety and security of the operations remain the highest priority.
- Perform other department duties related to his/her position as directed by the Workshop Manager or Head of the Department.

**Qualifications**:
About You- Essential: Trade or Vocational Qualification- Prior work experience as technician and supervisor with established ground handling agent or service provider.- Job Specific Skills: Strong knowledge of Airside / Ramp operational procedures.- Strong knowledge of vehicle and GSE maintenance.- Must possess a strong, decisive and collaborative leadership style- Demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, equality and respect.- Ability to effectively communicate with clear, concise and consistent messages.- Experience of leading, managing, inspiring and engaging a large multi-cultural workforce.- A change agent, results oriented who can deliver innovative execution at pace.- Strength in learning and development; mentoring and coaching skills.- Fluent in spoken and written English.- Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.- Preferred: Expert - minimum 7 years of job-related experience required- Two years as GSE Workshop Supervisory or Management for a ground handling company.- Capable of inspecting, repairing, modifying, overhauling and corrosion control to GSE/fleet vehicles.- Must be proficient in use of technical manuals, wiring diagrams or schematics used to diagnosis faults or referencing servicing information.- Knowledgeable of the diagnosis procedures for various equipment or vehicles types using digital multi-meters, diagnostic software, scanners and hand tools.- Proficient in various maintenance disciplines including: diesel / petrol engines overhaul, automatic/manual transmissions, drive train component overhaul, hydraulics, automotive electrical, automotive air-conditioning, welding, and repair of other drive-train components.- This position must demonstrate capacity to research technical data, and document maintenance actions electronically.- Experience in resource management, systems and planning.- Experience in Fleet Maintenance Management.- Prior experience with GSE Telematics.- Prior Experience with Fleet Management System.About Qatar Airways Group
