The incumbent is an employee who assists arriving guests as they enter the restaurant, Take orders and serve food and beverages to customers, welcomes them into the establishment and seat them. The guests receive their first impression of the service of the restaurant by their exchange with the hostess. The Waiter / Waitress have to perform to ensure guest satisfaction with the high standard of service. He/ she must undertake full responsibility in assisting in all aspects of brand standards, hygiene and safety practices, development in line with Progressive Food Trading specific policies and procedures whilst enhancing the brand image of the business. Incumbent should be able to give the best customer experience as per company standards.
- Check with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
- Communicate with customers to resolve complaints or ensure satisfaction.
- Able to represent the brand and service overall hospitality of the staff of the restaurant.
- Ensure that the guests are made comfortable and kept informed of the status of their orders or wait times.
- Offers drinks to the guests who have to wait for their meals.
- Monitor the open dining sections of the restaurant for empty and cleaned tables, estimating wait times for guests, monitoring the guest waiting list, and ensure that the needs of the guests are met while they are waiting.
- Responsible for answering the telephone, booking reservations and moving tables together to accommodate large parties if required.
- Assess the dining room and, if an accommodating table is available, escorts the guests to the dining room.
- Responsible for taking initial drink orders.
- Make any necessary changes to the dining room occupancy chart.
- Schedule dining reservations.
- Assist customers with seating arrangements.
- Warmly and graciously greet all guests upon arrival.
- When possible the front door for guests entering or leaving the restaurant.
- When immediate seating is limited, record guest names and number of people in party and provide guests with estimated waiting time.
- Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible.
- Seat guest guests based on guest preference and balancing of customer flow in service stations.
- Upon seating, offer guests a menu and inform them of their server’s name. Inspect table for proper presentation and completeness.
- Relay messages to servers and bus persons as needed.
- Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
- Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions for improvement.
- Such other tasks as required of management or leadership.
- Provide customers with general information or assistance.
- Adhere to and comply with company policies, standards and zero tolerance at all times.
