**About Us**
Soy by Sato is Qatar’s first local Asian fusion fine dining concept, bringing together culinary heritage and refined craftsmanship in every detail. As we open our new flagship location on **Gewan Island**, we are seeking an experienced and creative **Head Sushi Chef** to lead our sushi department with excellence and innovation.
We are looking for a highly skilled **Head Sushi Chef** who can craft exceptional sushi experiences, manage a team, and ensure the highest levels of quality, hygiene, and presentation — in line with the standards of a luxury fine dining environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead the sushi section with creativity, efficiency, and consistency
- Design and update sushi menu items in collaboration with the Executive Chef
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and preparation of raw fish and premium ingredients
- Maintain exceptional plating standards and visual presentation
- Train and supervise junior sushi chefs and kitchen staff
- Monitor quality control, hygiene, and food safety in the sushi section
- Collaborate with the kitchen and service team to ensure smooth operations
- Stay updated on trends and seasonal ingredients in sushi cuisine
**Requirements**:
- Proven experience as a Head Sushi Chef or Senior Sushi Chef in a fine dining or luxury environment
- Strong knowledge of Japanese culinary techniques, knife skills, and sushi traditions
- Creative vision with attention to detail and plating aesthetics
- Leadership and team management skills
- Familiarity with food safety standards and HACCP procedures
- Ability to work in a high-paced, guest-focused setting
- Fluency in English (Japanese or Arabic is a plus)
