Job Summary

The incumbent will assume prime responsibility for coordinating the QNB Group's Global Taxation matters within the Group (excluding Qatar). Researching and understanding the implications of relevant global tax laws and formulating effective tax strategies that are fully compliant with these laws whilst tax effective for QNB. Example of tax matters including but not limited to income tax compliance, capital gains tax, compliance with Group wide transfer pricing from tax perspective, Band other tax matters such as Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) compliance, Withholding Tax (WHT), Value Added Tax (VAT), Retention taxes, Employee Taxation obligations, etc arising as a result of QNB's international operations.

Main Responsibilities
**A. Shareholder & Financial**:

- Support the ongoing tax compliance and planning requirements for the bank for international/overseas taxation and ensuring reasonableness of the tax burden.
- Regular review to ensure that the Group complies with all tax compliance obligations and tax related reporting requirements and associated statutory payment obligations.
- Assist in the on-going tax compliance process in the bank and progressively review opportunities for tax planning across the Group in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations.
- Demonstrate clear understanding of the important factors behind the bank's financial & non-financial performance.
- Implements KPI's and best practices for Assistant Vice President International Taxation role.
- Observes and promotes cost consciousness and efficiency, and enhance productivity, to minimize costs, avoidwastes, and optimize benefits for the bank.
- Act within the limits of the powers delegated to the incumbent and delegate authority to the respective staff and monitor exercise of the same.
- Forecasting and advising senior management on financial and operational implications arising from latest tax regulations and compliance regimes in Qatar.

**B. Customer (Internal & External)**:

- Coordinate with the various departments within the bank to ensure tax compliance and record explanation for deviations with escalations as required.
- Build and maintain strong and effective relationship with all other related departments and units to achieve the Group's tax goals/ objectives.
- As required liaise with the Group's IT Department to ensure taxation reporting needs of the bank are timely resolved/attended to, to the extent these are dependent on required system enhancements.
- Assist customers (External/Internal) in all their queries on the Divisions products/tasks and seek solution to their requests
- Maintain activities in accordance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with internal departments/ units to

achieve improvements in turn-around time.
- Provide timely and accurate information to the external and internal Auditors, Compliance, Tax Authorities and Risk Functions as and when required.
- If required, the incumbent is also expected to provide necessary support and assistance to the wider QNB global tax teams - i.e., domestic taxation and international taxation teams, for any taxation related matters.
- To assist customers in all their queries on Bank's product and seek solution to their requests.

**C. Internal (Processes, Products, Regulatory)**:

- Be aware of Global Best Practice of Tax Compliance and actively seek out the latest developments of Tax matters for the countries in which we operate in a proactive manner
- Provide tax structuring advice, demonstrating high levels of technical skill
- Provide professional taxation service support that contributes towards the achievement of the Group's strategic objectives.
- Advice and guidance on all aspects of corporate taxation, governance, risk and control matters.
- Implement and successfully manage specialised tax projects displaying excellence in effective management of tax related matters
- Maintain the taxation matrix summary, which will list out the various tax requirements in the jurisdictions, which we operate and circulate as required.
- Ensure adherence to taxation policies and procedures.
- Liaise with concerned departments and IT Department to resolve all observed inaccuracies in outputs/systems.
- Assist in developing the taxation policy/framework and the related taxation templates.
- Support in the development or suggest acceptable tax structures to ensure an accurate and complete taxation control process.
- Supervise and train the department's staff to maintain tax competency and efficiency in performing duties.
- Set examples by leading improvement initiatives through cross-functional teams ensuring successes.
- Help identify and encourage people to adopt practices better than the industry standard.
