Key Accountabilities:
Role purpose: The Senior Curatorial Affairs Researcher supports the Curatorial Department in the development and delivery of high-quality exhibitions and related programming in alignment with the Lusail Museum’s vision, mission, and scholarly direction. This role contributes significantly to the research, interpretation, and presentation of both the permanent collection and temporary exhibitions. The Senior Researcher also plays a key role in the preparation of curatorial texts, publications, talks, and other outputs, and supports the Director and Curators in shaping and executing the museum’s exhibition and program strategy.

Roles & responsibilites:
Curatorial Research:

- Collection and Research Development
- Conducts original research and documentation on the museum’s collection, artists, and artworks, in alignment with the collection development strategy.
- Proposes artists and artworks for acquisition and contributes to scholarly research that supports exhibitions, publications, and public programs.
- Supports the ongoing development and interpretation of the collection through research, cataloguing, and content creation.

Exhibition and Program Support
- Works closely with curators, artists, and museum partners to research and develop relevant, innovative exhibitions and public programs.
- Initiates and develops curatorial projects from concept to completion, including exhibitions, commissions, publications, talks, screenings, and digital content.
- Assists in the planning and execution of exhibitions and programs, including scheduling, logistics, and coordination with internal teams to ensure timely delivery.
- Provides curatorial content for exhibitions, events, and publications, including overseeing image reproduction rights, captions, and metadata accuracy.
- Maintains up-to-date records of all exhibition and program plans, and contributes to internal documentation and project tracking.

Editorial and Interpretive Work
- Coordinates, edits, and contributes to the writing of exhibition texts and related materials, both in print and digital formats.
- Assists in the preparation and delivery of public-facing presentations such as gallery talks, lectures, and guided tours.
- Supports the curatorial team in the development and editing of interpretive materials and translations (Arabic/English) for publications and exhibition content.

Collaboration and Communication
- Works cross-departmentally with Collections, Exhibitions, Education, and Research teams to align and share curatorial content and updates.
- Serves as a key liaison between the Curatorial Department and other departments within Qatar Museums, as well as with external partners and institutions.
- Attends and contributes to internal and external research meetings, workshops, and symposia as requested.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Advanced degree (MA preferred) in Art History, Orientalist/Islamic Art, Museum Studies, Cultural Studies, or a related field.
- Excellent writing and communication skills (English and Arabic) other languages suitable

- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other basic computing skills
- Demonstrated experience in curatorial research, particularly in the context of museum exhibitions, publications, and public programs.
- Proven research skills, with the ability to conduct original scholarship and synthesize complex material for diverse audiences.
