Baggage Officer

About Role:
A Baggage Officer plans, monitors and controls all activities relevant to Airside Baggage Operations - QAS in order to ensure consistent delivery standards and on time performance is maintained at the highest level. You will be responsible to ensure that all staff members under the jurisdiction adhere to the safety regulations and maintain discipline as per the company’s policy.

Accountabilities:
Your major responsibilities would be:
- Updating and discussing all operational issues of baggage with the Duty Manager on duty to ensure smooth and effective operation.- Reacting promptly, and efficiently, to power / DCS / ALTEA disruptions ensuring continuous safe and timely service delivery.- Performing safety and security spot check on QAS resources - manpower, equipment and facilities as well as other facilities utilized by QAS for daily operations.- Reporting any incident(s) and/or accident(s) involving QAS resources to the Safety Officer on shift, the BGTDM, DM & Manager(s).- To enter reports of injuries to staff personnel, if any, on the AQD under Occupational Health & Safety as ereport. Investigate, conclude and document incident(s) and/or accident(s) involving QAS resources as well as instance(s) of service lapse due to QAS.- Distributing the Standards & Procedure Bulletins /TOI’s / IPN’s / Internal Memorandum’s / Safety Flashes to Airside Baggage and Transport staff through the Read & Sign files.- Highlighting discrepancies / non-compliances of SOP/Service lapses, if any, with corrective action and recommendation of preventive measures.- Managing an overall safe on-time performance of all Customer Airline flights and plan resources / equipment for next 24 hours to have an effective and safe operation.- Minimizing operational discrepancies during the shift through proper planning, organizing and monitoring of resources, manpower & activities pertaining to Baggage Handling.- Reduce operational costs by curtailing overtime hours through cross-utilizing available resources from different areas.

**Qualifications**:
About You:
- Vocational/Diploma or Associate Degree or equivalent (Type of DIploma Based on role) with Minimum 6 years of job-related experience- Experience pertaining to Ground Services functionalities of which last 3 years should be at Supervisory level.- Experience working in an Airline / Ground Handling Company pertaining to Airport operations in relation to Baggage / Ramp Operations.- Experience dealing with Customer Airlines & Authorities including Emergency response.- Experience liaising with internal and external customers in order to ensure proper resources and facilities available to meet the operational needs.- Proficiency in Baggage and Ramp handling Procedures with practical knowledge of Airport communications system / DCS- Excellent English Communication with good Interpersonal skills- Written & Spoken Arabic.preferred- Ability to handle emergency situations whether Air or Land Side.- Safety and security practices as stipulated by (ICAO /IATA) and safety policy of the company.- Proficiency in Weight & Balance, along with Dangerous Goods Handling procedures.- Basic supervisory skills.
