Job Title: Category Specialist/Buyer

Location: Qatar (Preference for Qatar-based candidates)

Industry: Oil & Gas / Petrochemical / Refinery

Experience Required: 8–10 years

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Category Specialist/Buyer to join our procurement team within the Oil & Gas industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, vendor management, tendering, and contract negotiations, while ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards.

This role demands strong technical expertise, in-depth market knowledge, and proven experience in refinery or petrochemical environments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.Sc. Engineering or equivalent Diploma in Mechanical / Instrument / Electrical / Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Proficiency in English (spoken, written, and read).
  • Knowledge and adherence to plant safety standards.
  • Strong writing and communication skills (ability to draft clear instructions, procedures, and reports).
  • Middle East/Gulf region experience is a strong advantage.
  • Qatar-based candidates will be given preference.

Work Experience

  • 8–10 years of experience in refinery or petrochemical Oil & Gas plants.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement processes, vendor negotiations, and market trends.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP Procurement applications and MS Office.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent coordination and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement activities including purchase requisitions, tenders, and vendor negotiations.
  • Prepare bidders lists, tender packages, RFQs, and purchase orders.
  • Conduct technical and commercial evaluations of vendor offers.
  • Support contract management, compliance, and vendor relationships.
  • Ensure procurement activities adhere to company policies, procedures, and ethics standards.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing.
  • Support shipping, freight, and service procurement within the Petrochemical industry.
  • Actively promote teamwork, customer service, and safety standards.
