**Position Summary**:
**Competencies**:

- Proven record of scholarly activities and research strengths in aluminum production and aluminum smelter process waste treatment and management, as evidenced by publications in high-ranking journals.
- Ability to attract research funds and develop scholarly endeavors.
- Capacity to provide technical support to the Qatalum/Hydro aluminum industry in Qatar to help solve operational problems.
- Experience in advising graduate and undergraduate students and involvement in consulting, service duties, and committee work.
- A growing international research network, supporting teamwork, and interdisciplinary research with colleagues from other university departments.
- Strong problem-solving and resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a diverse, multicultural environment.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Develop research in aluminum production and aluminum smelter process waste treatment and management.
- Supervise graduate and undergraduate theses/projects.
- Provide technical support to the Qatalum/Hydro aluminum industry in Qatar.
- Engage in community service and foster industrial relations.
- Publish and present research in reputable journals and international conferences.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
- Develop research specializations, engage in collaborative research, and obtain competitive research funding. Engage in scholarly activities leading to national, regional, and international

**Qualifications**:

- **Qualifications**:

- A Ph.D. in Metallurgy, Mines Engineering, Materials, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 10+ years of research and/or industrial experience.
- A track record of research funding and the capacity to establish ties with industry or government agencies.
- Experience in managing externally funded research projects, with leadership in tackling and defining problems.
