The role holder will oversee the control and conduct framework within Qatar MSS and support Qatar MSS Front to back and regional activities, supporting the regional business by owning and ensuring effective execution of global governance, assurance, conduct and control standards, or defining where such standards are specific/relevant to the regional business and implement the risk management policy of the business and work closely with the management to mitigate risks.

**In this role, you will**:

- Implement the risk management policy of the business and work closely with the management to mitigate risks.
- Ensure there is a robust Risk Management policy for the department is in place and updated regularly.
- Ensure the business adhere to Qatar regulatory requirements and applicable rules.
- Ensure to mitigate the risk of using the facilities of the business by clients and employees to commit financial crimes.
- Conducting periodic Audits/Checks to ensure the said policies are followed and they are fit for purpose.
- Ensure EOD checks are conducted, and positions are reconciliations daily are signed off on an effective manner.
- Complaints handling procedures are followed and notified to the management and resolved.
- Ensuring adequate risk management training are conducted per year.
- Providing advice and reports to senior management on business risk related issues.
- Work with Internal Audit, External Audit, and regulators during Audits.
- Act as the Key point of contact for day-to-day regulatory dealings.
- Ensuring the regulatory changes are updated and implemented Immediately.
- Review/approve new policies and standards for and on behalf of the region.
- Ensure effective implementation or completion of any remediation actions.
- Assist in the design and to help monitor the operating effectiveness of the control framework, escalating control issues as necessary.
- Design and implement policies and procedures for and on behalf of MSS in accordance with the Bank's policy / risk appetite.
- Responsible for the continual assessment of operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructuring and the impact of new technology.
- Demonstrates compliance with HSBC Bank plc Group standards, manuals and policies and adheres to the defined work practices, internal controls and risk management standards associated with the role
- Act as a point of escalation for stakeholders with respect to internal control issues for the region/site
- Ensuring visibility and oversight is provided to Key stakeholders and Management around key risks and issues via appropriate governance forums
- Drive the RCA for the business for the asset classes and ensure that the risk assessment is reviewed on a periodic basis.
- RCAs - Participation in the refresh of the RCAs in coordination with the Risk Stewards, Risk Owners and Control Owners.
- Drive the identification of control and procedure enhancements within the current control environment and therefore the control change agenda for the asset classes
- Challenge and advise on other business changes which may impact key controls for the business

**Requirements**:
**To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements**:

- Degree holder, preferably with a professional qualification, with strong knowledge of internal control and risk management in markets
- Strong experience (minimum 5 years) in business management, Audit or risk/control roles within a markets business
- Strong understanding of Securities Services and Markets business and products
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and project management skills to enhance procedures and controls
- Well-developed leadership and people management skills, able to drive change and provide positive influence to achieve organisation goals
- Excellent communication skills in Arabic, able to negotiate and work effectively with senior business leaders across business lines and geographies
- Strong problem solving and prioritization skills and be able to perform multitask under pressure and with a keen eye for detail
