Job Description

The Purchasing Store Keeper role at Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank involves overseeing the management of food and beverage supplies, including storage, issuance, and accounting. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of our stores area in accordance with municipal standards.

Main Duties

  1. Supervise daily receiving and store-keeping activities to ensure adherence to established procedures.
  2. Inspect goods to ensure they meet company guidelines for receipt, issuance, documentation, storage, and requisitioning.
  3. Collaborate with other departments on storeroom operational matters as needed.
  4. Issue stocks/supplies to personnel presenting approved requisition forms according to SOP.
  5. Maintain accurate filing of requisition forms and forward original copies to cost control.
  6. Acknowledge deliveries received by the Receiving agent.
  7. Ensure proper packing and labelling of items stored in freezers.
  8. Inspect stocks regularly to determine spoilage risk and prioritize issuance accordingly.
  9. Maintain approved Par stock levels.
  10. Update the market list with freezer item stock daily to aid the chef in ordering.
  11. Analyze problem areas, suggest practical solutions, and monitor results continuously.
  12. Verify reconciled inventory reports with book balance and actual count/unit costs.
  13. Assist the F&B Director, Executive chef, and other department heads as needed.
  14. Manage time effectively by meeting deadlines.
  15. Conduct daily staff briefings.
  16. Work closely with Executive Chef and Kitchen stewarding to maintain high hygiene standards.
  17. Perform work assigned by Executive Chef.
  18. Perform other duties assigned by Cost Controller/chief accountant or seniors.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. Experience in a public contact position, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel.
  2. The ability to enter and locate work-related information using computers and/or point of sale systems.
  3. A pleasant, friendly, and fun demeanor.
  4. The ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and have a high level of attention to detail.
  5. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  6. The ability to maintain positive and productive working relationships with other employees and departments.
  7. The ability to work independently and partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork.
