Job Description

About the Role:

The Child Youth Services Program Associate will maintain control of and account for the whereabouts and safety of children and youth. This individual will assist in planning, coordinating, and conducting activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years.

Responsibilities:

  • Interact with children and youth using approved child guidance and youth development techniques.
  • Encourage participant interest and establish a program setting that promotes positive interactions with other children, youth, and adults.
  • Assist with the planning and conducting of activities for program participants based on the needs of individual children and youth.
  • Use prepared curriculum and program materials and assist with developing a list of needed supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with creating adult-made games and play materials and assist with developing a list of needed supplies and equipment for submission to the CDC lead.
  • Assist leads and supervisors to implement activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive needs of children and youth.
  • Assist team members to prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedules.
  • Promote and model safety, fitness, health, and nutrition practices.
  • Care for special needs children and youth as directed by the lead.
  • Assist children and youth with special projects, homework, and life skills.
  • Interact professionally with staff members, parents, and local installation command personnel.
  • Note special instructions provided by parents.
  • Ensure children and youth depart with authorized person according to written parental instructions.
  • Notify supervisor on health, fire, and safety compliance concerns.
  • Provide care, oversight, and accountability for program participants in compliance with DoD/Dos and local policies, guidance, and standards.
  • Observe program participants for signs that may indicate illness, abuse, or neglect and report as directed.
  • Maintain displays and bulletin boards.
  • Inventory equipment on a recurring basis and recommend replenishing damaged, missing, and depleted supplies.
  • Collect, maintain, and report program participation data.
  • Evaluate assigned area to ensure it achieves and maintains standards for DoD certification and national accreditation or equivalent.
  • Ensure assigned area provides quality care and supervision to children and youth ranging in age from 6 weeks to 18 years.
  • Evaluate compliance with law, policies, and regulations applicable to DoD/DoS programs.
  • Record and report all accidents and incidents involving children to the Program Director.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
