Job Summary

The Trade Finance Officer plays a pivotal role in facilitating international trade transactions by overseeing and managing trade finance operations, including letters of credit, documentary collections, and trade finance facilities. This position requires a deep understanding of regulatory requirements, banking policies, and international trade regulations to mitigate risks and safeguard the bank's interests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage trade finance operations, including letters of credit, documentary collections, and trade finance facilities, to facilitate international trade transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, banking policies, and international trade regulations, including UCP 600, Incoterms, and OFAC sanctions, to mitigate risks and safeguard the bank's interests.
  • Manage relationships with corporate clients, correspondent banks, and trade service providers to facilitate efficient trade finance transactions and address client needs and inquiries.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior trade finance staff, conducting training sessions, and mentoring them to develop their skills and expertise in trade finance operations.
  • Review trade finance documentation, including letters of credit, guarantees, and trade finance contracts, to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with banking standards and legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as compliance, legal, and credit risk management to assess and mitigate risks associated with trade finance transactions.
  • Monitor trade finance transactions, tracking transactional documents and funds flows, and resolving discrepancies or issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Analyze market trends, industry developments, and client needs to identify opportunities for expanding trade finance services and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and performance metrics related to trade finance activities to support management decision-making and strategic planning.
Requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of international trade finance products, including letters of credit, trade finance facilities, and documentary collections, as well as understanding of relevant regulations and industry practices.
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating trade finance documentation, assessing credit risk, and identifying potential issues or discrepancies in trade transactions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effectively liaising with clients, banks, and other stakeholders involved in trade finance transactions.
  • Attention to detail for reviewing trade finance documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory requirements and banking standards.
  • Problem-solving abilities for resolving complex trade finance issues, managing disputes, and finding creative solutions to meet client needs while mitigating risks for the bank.
Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or any related field. Professional Qualification in Certified Management Accountant (CMA). Minimum 5 year(s) working experience, 3 year(s) relevant working experience, 2 year (s) GCC is a plus.
