Senior Exhibitions Specialist

Key Accountabilities:
- The Senior Exhibitions Specialist works closely with the Head of Exhibitions, Exhibitions Coordinators, Collections and Conservation Team to understand the needs and requirements of museum exhibitions.
- On ground availability for overseeing onsite construction carried out by external construction company.
- Provide rough sketches for Exhibition design and layout.
- Must have in-depth knowledge about the scope of work required, communicate the requirements to external construction company and ensure quality control and deadline is strictly adhered.
- Oversee inventory of QOSM exhibition materials (cases, pedestals, lights, A/V equipment and other supplies to re-use them as per the needs of an exhibition.
- Coordination of exhibitions at QOSM in collaboration with project manager and other project stakeholders
- Liaise with stakeholders to monitor and report on progress of any given exhibition.
- Be able to independently work with external suppliers for onsite construction/electrical work leading up to the installation of an exhibition.
- Be able to reach out to vendors and suppliers to understand best prices and delivery timeline.
- Coordinate with exhibition designer, lighting specialist, audio/video specialist, art handlers, construction team, curators and visiting artists to ensure exhibitions are implemented on time and as per the specifications of all stakeholders.
- Be able to have a precise and updated inventory of existing exhibition materials at Mathaf. Updated and precise inventory of carpets, cases, pedestals, A/V materials and lights.
- Must be aware of building’s HVAC, electrical systems, access points, and load capacity.
- Coordinate with Operations Department to ensure all required permits are submitted on time.
- Create and improve policies to ensure future exhibitions and the processes leading up to them are smoother, more efficient, and in line with international museum standards.
- Work with other members of QOSM including, Education and Events to coordinate activities that relate to the exhibition.
- Other duties related to the section
Qualifications/Requirements:
- B.A. in architecture, interior design, museum studies or a related field; M.A preferred.
- 12 years' experience in an office environment.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating with multi-disciplinary and multi skilled project teams in a gallery or museum environment.
- Experienced with various software including: Word, Excel, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Vector works, and AutoCad.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
