Senior Mep Design Engineer

**Job Purpose**:SENIOR MEP DESIGN ENGINEER**

To handle independently and provide technical services and expertise in Mechanical Engineering throughout project duration starting with Project Requirements, Design Development, Tendering, Execution up to final Handover. To ensure that design is energy-efficient, sustainable and comply with International Codes and Standards as well as Local Codes

**Q**ualifications and Education: *
- **Minimum: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. Grade-A UPDA Engineer**.
- **Minimum 10-12 years of Consultancy experience in design and construction supervision of **Mechanical Systems such as HVAC, Fire Protection and Plumbing/Drainage.**:

- Advantage: Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Professional Accreditation (PE, CIBSE).
- Advantage: LEED AP or GSAS Accredited.
**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**:

- Familiar with Internationally recognized Mechanical Codes and Standards such as IMC, UMC, ASHRAE, BS, ASME and ASTM.
- Familiar with Internationally recognized Plumbing Codes and Standards such as IPC, UPC, BS and ASPE.
- Familiar with Internationally recognized Fire Protection Codes and Standards such as IFC, UFC and NFPA.
- Familiar with requirements of Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS).
- Cooling and Heating load calculations, Ventilation loads, Psychometrics Analysis.
- Hydraulic calculations and pipe-sizing of Chilled Water and Heat Water Systems.
- Aerodynamic calculations and ductwork-sizing of A/C and Ventilation Systems.
- Hydraulic calculations and pipe-sizing of domestic Plumbing Systems.
- Sizing of building Sanitary Drainage Systems. Sizing of Storm-Water Systems.
- Hydraulic calculations and pipe-sizing of Fire Protection Systems.
- Familiar with design of District Cooling Systems and Central Plants.
- Interpret and Review Design/Construction Documentation, Mechanical Layouts, Schematics and Computer Generated Reports.
- Evaluate and Identify Mechanical Layouts/Systems deficiencies. Recommend necessary options/modifications for improvement.
- Attend meetings and site visits with Clients/End-users in preparing Initial Assessment and the project Scope of Requirements (SOR).
- Elaboration of Concept Design and Design Philosophy.
- Preparation of Feasibility Studies, Schematic Reports and Design Development Reports.
- Design and Detailing of Mechanical Layouts, System Schematics, Equipment Installation
Details, Instrumentation Diagrams and Sequence of Operation.
- Selection of Mechanical Equipment and Components, preparation of Equipment Schedules.
- Develop Mechanical Specifications according to project requirements.
- Construction supervision experience. Review and approval of Shop Drawings, Material Submittals, Method Statements, RFI&T, As-built Drawings etc.
- Proficient with Commissioning and Handover process.
- Excellent Computer Literacy, Proficient in handling of various Mechanical Software and AutoCAD.
- Coordination of design process in a multi-discipline team of engineers.
- Excellent organizational skills and discretion with confidential information.
- Excellent planning, prioritizing and scheduling skills.
- Organized, detailed-oriented and thorough in completing work tasks.
- Good commercial awareness.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a pleasing personality.
- Excellent communications skills in English (both verbal and written), Arabic will be an advantage.
- Valid Qatar driving License to attend various site visits and meetings.
