As the business expands, we are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to join our Doha-based Qatar Airways Cargo Customer Experience team as a Lead Cargo Data Science Officer.

In this role, you will extract, pre-process and analyze data through applicable statistical and mathematical tools that will help Cargo grow its revenue opportunities and cost saving options.

As part of your daily responsibilities, you will also:

  1. Play a key role in turning big data into critical information and knowledge to help Cargo adopt appropriate strategies and customize themselves for enhanced customer experience.
  2. Perform analysis on reporting, trends, data quality and decision support system outcomes to improve departmental forecasting techniques where improved forecasts result in better decision making and revenue results.
  3. Make strategic recommendations on data collection, integration and retention requirements incorporating business requirements and knowledge of best practices.
  4. Evaluate and problem solve through data analysis using combined knowledge of modelling, statistics and analytics by cooperating with colleagues.
  5. Identify relevant data sources available, including internal and external data sources, leveraging new data collection processes such as smart meters and geo location information or social media.
  6. Compile statistical/supporting data to communicate findings, critical information and insights to business and make relevant recommendations to adapt existing business strategies.
  7. Design and develop automated reporting using available corporate applications.

Qualifications

About You

We are looking for a professional with the following skills and experience:

  1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent with minimum 4 years of job-related experience.
  2. Experience with data analysis (SQL, R, Python, Scala, SAS, SPSS, machine learning) and data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBl, Qlikview, etc.).
  3. Knowledge of cloud platforms, e.g. AWS, Azure.
  4. Expert understanding of statistics, operations research, forecasting and optimization methods.
  5. Master's Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Business Statistics or Computational Science will be an advantage.
  6. 4 years or more of hands-on experience in development of models using statistical techniques would be preferred.
  7. Advanced analytics certification (R, SAS, SPSS, etc.) is a plus.
