About the role:
This role is responsible for increasing passenger volumes through developing new routes and capacity with existing airline partners, as well as attracting new partners. Managing commercial relationships with airlines ensures partners are successful and satisfied with HIA service. The role also sets up and manages Service Agreements covering Airport and other services with Airlines to maximize Aeronautical revenues. Setting revenue budgets and reporting on performance is essential.

Key responsibilities:
  • Develop and regularly update the aviation development strategy aligning it with business strategy.
  • Evaluate connectivity and traffic volumes against Qatar's 2030 tourism strategy.
  • Maximize Aeronautical revenues in line with HIA business strategy.
  • Manage preparation of aeronautical revenue budgets/forecasts to support HIA business plan and strategy.
  • Develop Aeronautical pricing (charges) incentive policy and recommend to Executive Management for approval.
  • Build relationships with stakeholders (Qatar Tourism Authority, QCAA, QAS, etc.) to ensure strategy goals are met.
  • Manage airline business development to utilize Airport capacity by attracting new airlines and route expansion of existing airlines as per approved business strategy.
  • Identify network gaps/opportunities and prepare business cases for potential airlines.
  • Set up and recommend revenue plans reviewing financial, traffic, and related assumptions to ascertain profitability for HIA and present findings and recommendations to Executive Management.
  • Recommend revisions in regulated aeronautical tariffs considering cost of service, asset utilization, and benchmarking in compliance with QCAA rules, and oversee its implementation in line with IATA rules & regulations.
  • Ensure revenue arrangements with airlines cover all aeronautical revenues and ancillary service charges in accordance with applicable QCAA and ICAO rules.
  • Manage stakeholder consultation with QR Group and Subsidiaries on proposed aeronautical Pricing/Incentive policy and recommend final policy to Executive Management for approval.
  • Set up commercial arrangements for Aero-related services with QR Group and Subsidiaries or any other service provider.
  • Review business plans and carry out financial checks to set up and recommend optimal commercial terms for Executive Management for approval.
  • Track business development progress and update the risk and opportunity tracker.
  • Monitor existing carriers/routes performance and devise support plans when needed.
  • Represent HIA at industry events/conferences such as Routes conferences.
