Head of Commercial, Marketing

About the role:
Lead the Commercial, Marketing & Contracts and QAS Travel departments in Qatar Aviation Services (QAS), within agreed standards and financial targets and provide leadership and management for the provision to meet operational and business requirements. Responsible for the effective operational and strategic management of the Commercial, Marketing & Contracts and QAS Travel to ensure key strategic, operational and financial objectives are achieved.
Strategic
- Effectively liaise with customer and with key industry partners in order to maintain strategical short term and long-term working relationship to meet business objectives.
- Identify critical areas of commercial and QAS Travel and formulate well-designed plans to avoid any major disruption to operational duties.
- Develop the QAS global brand and commercial marketing campaign strategies, determining the correct level of investment and channel for each campaign to maximize the generation of revenue and increase in brand value.
- Responsible to identify the challenges expected to be faced by QAS in relation to Commercial, Marketing & Contracts and QAS Travel and provide strategic solutions to these challenges.
Business Acumen / Budget
- Participate in the annual budgeting process by ensuring QAS Commercial and QAS Travel plans and CMC's are submitted on a timely basis prior to beginning of the next fiscal year.
- Approve the expenditure of Commercial, Marketing & Contracts and QAS Travel department against approved levels on a regular basis and investigate and justify significant variances to ensure effective performance and cost control.
- Monitor short and long term QAS investment for commercial projects / assignments and replacement plan in coordination with finance and operational departments.
- Uses understanding of business principles to establish clear priorities for action.
- Demonstrates a clear understanding of the P & L budget and is highly aware of the day to day costs and actively manages costs and the budget in an effective manner.
- Builds value partnerships with existing and future new customers.
Operational
- Responsible to review time to time and introduces best operational practice & processes, procedures and controls and communicates clearly and concisely standards, accountabilities and responsibilities to all direct & indirect reports.
- Oversight of long-term and annual commercial projects ensuring a disciplined process to define, communicate, activate, and manage initiatives that will drive achievement of long-term business goals.
- Implements best practice resource management through accurate and detailed forecasting, planning and subsidiaries, including support of the Qatar Airways Special Assistance Program.
- Effectively liaise with other QAS departments, customer airlines, other QR Group business units and regulatory in order to maintain healthy working relationship and to achieve business objective.
Management & Leadership
- Establish the department or teams objectives and priorities to align with and support business objectives.
- Regularly evaluate the department or teams objectives, plans, procedures and practices, and makes appropriate changes if needed

About You:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent with Minimum 10 years of job-related experience
- Command of English language
- Strong understanding of revenue management principles
- Commercial Management. Strong business commercial acumen together with risk management skills.
- Contract negotiation skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate to deliver results
- Managerial skills - Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
- Financial reporting abilities
- Strong analytical skills along with experience working in a marketing role
- Excellent communication and marketing skills
- Highly strategic yet hands-on, able to balance long term strategy with short term results
